Green Bags

One of my biggest frustrations as a cook is buying beautiful produce at the farmer's market or Whole Foods and then having it wilt or rot before I get a chance to do anything with it. Such a waste!

I would like to thank my friend Noel for insisting that I try these bags. I have made it a rule to never buy anything sold on infomercials. I feel it's a good life policy. However in this case I was wrong. These things are definitely worth the money. I did not do any side-by-side tests like they do on the TV commercial, but I could easily tell that produce lasted days longer in these things than they would have normally.

There was one downside, however. The enclosed fruits and veggies seem to give off more water when in these bags than in others. I have no idea if that has something to do with the chemical reaction going on, but whatever it is, be careful. You can end up with mold due to excess moisture in place of wilting. The cure for this is to place a paper towel in the bag with the produce to sop up any extra water and swap it out after a couple days if necessary. And make double darn sure that any produce that goes in the bag is very dry beforehand.

So if you've been skeptical, have no fear. Go ahead and try these green bags. They really do help!

I use the green bags and love them as well. I also bought the brown bags for bread and bakery items. They seem to work well keeping most breads fresh as well.
