In praise of simplicity - I love Grandma's Lye Soap. One bar of this cost me $4.99 at the Ace Hardware in downtown Elmhurst. You might feel that $4.99 is a bit steep compared to a bar of Dial or Ivory. However this bar of soap lasted me almost 3 months. I go through a bar of Dial or whatever in 1-2 weeks. The thing I truly love about this soap is it's old-school, simple ingredients:



It also makes my skin feel great and doesn't compete with a scent I may choose to put on. This is obviously NOT vegetarian, but if you are still eating pork, you shouldn't feel any worse about cleaning with it. Plus I've heard that palm oil demand is killing off the orangutans by decimating their habitat. So pick your battles.
